What's so wrong about eating only fruits and vegetables???!

Question: people on here have said that eating only fruits and veggies is wrong. what's so wrong about that?? it's not like back over 1000 years ago (and farther back) people ate all the junk that we have now, they ate very healthy diets consisted mainly of fruits and veggies...according to the Bible. i want to eat like that and i see absolutley nothing wrong with eating what is naturally here. humans decide to make artificially made food and say that we need this and that to stay healthy when that is not the case.
i dont care, whatever, i'm going to start eating mostly fruits and veggies.

I think half of the people who say that stuff probably frequent McD's daily and have no idea what they're talking about!? Haha! Just make sure you are getting enough fruits, vegetables, proteins, whole grains, and calcium in your diet, and you can eat whatever you want.....

Good luck, stay healthy, and remember it's your body, keep it healthy the best way you know how!!!

They don't provide you with all the nutrition you need. You also need dairy and protein in your diet.

I dont see anything wrong with it at all. But your body does need the iron and protien that meat provides for you.

I hope you are not saying you are only going to eat raw. Now, it is a good idea to eat 75% raw, but the rest should be cooked. There are many foods that can only be eaten cooked.

I understand where your coming from. Lots of fruits and veggies are perfectly fine. Just remember, you still need some protein in your diet, which you can get from eggs, or fish, or meat of some kind. Look into organic meats. God did put chickens on this earth as well as many other animals! Just stay away from processed foods.

There's a logical error in what you're saying:

Just because somebody a long time ago, or from a far off land did something, didn't mean it was the smartest thing to do.
You hear the same thing when people say stuff like "the Chinese have been doing it for years..." etc.
So?
They've also had a 45-55 year life span for that time too!

You could use the same logic to justify human sacrifice - people have been doing that for thousands of years too.

But to answer your question:
There's nothing wrong with eating lots of fruit & vegetables, they're healthy. But you will still be missing a lot of nutrients, notably; enough protein.
It won't kill you, but you won't have much muscle mass either. This is why most vegans have that pasty, thin, sagging skin look. Not enough protein.

cause they don't have all the nutrients

your facts are NOT really correct
Humans at all eras in time,, ate meat,, but YES lots of veggies,, grasses,, seeds,, etc
BUT
your wrong about the Bible,, even the OT..(Leviticus)
the instructions for preparation of meat
Jesus at the wedding and feeding the fish and bread..
lamb and goat were daily staples it is not mentioned but eggs chickens ducks MY God he was a fisherman and a Carpenter...
since your mind is set OK
And Now What
Happy New Year ...?
I wish you well...

Nothing hugely wrong persay. However you must eat all of them and a lot of them to get all the amino acids you need.

You can stay away from (highly )processed foods and maintain good health.

I admire your tenacity you have been at this diet a while... The thing about a diet is you've got to be able to maintain it.

For example can you eat just veggies and fruit with out going crazy I can't...

I can understand where you are coming from, so here it is, potatoes are something you may want to limit however if you are down on energy you might like to eat some.

I think that providing your not a vegetarian some small portions of good meat help meet the requirements for amino acids with out having to 500 grams of greens.

Eating fresh food is a concept that many people believe is instrumental to good health.

I think though you are vegetarian, you will still needs to eat legumes, and things to ensure your don't make yourself sick with low iron. Eating chick peas, lentils, are very important.

It would probably be a good idea to talk to a nutritionist. You will still need calicium and if you limit the intake that may work and instead of ditching the whole group, maybe just stick with soy milk - which is still pretty good and low fat.

Also the timing of when you eat things is important. I think it would be less distressing to people if you said for tea I will eat mainly fruits and veggies, but for like breakfast you can get away with eating some carbs and dairy, because you have the day to burn it off. and then a dish at lunch time with lentils, soy beans, broad beans etc...

talk to a nutritionist for the best results for you though.
