Yes, the fact that the government set the standards for things like this, yet they have let supermarkets lie on the packets of food, so even the most careful people are eating ****, shows the government don't give a damn about us (AGAIN)
And how can it be our responsibility, when the labels are all wrong.

Its not really the governments problem though, its down to us as individuals to choose not to eat these things. our health is our responsibility

Probably. My partner is terrible even with th ehealthy low fat ready meals. He looks on the back of boxes all the time to check the salt, fat and protein, whereas im not bothered im only here once. Rather enjoy what i want, at some cost i know

Thats seriously one long winded conspiracy you have thought up. But if this was the case, they would of said smoking is healthy and would of had more tax as an added bonus.

seriuosly we don't need laws to tell us what we should or shouldn't do. just use our commen sence. if we keep on making these laws we are going to create a government that are ancesters have run away from. If you want to live a long life do so and do the things you know will help lengthen. it we don't need the govenment to do that.

Mmmm.. Queue next post on nanny states...

No, I think it's the government not being overly involved in our daily lives. The government shouldn't be so closely involved in our day to day lives as it has been getting. Outlawing certain oils, foods, etc, is leading to people being dumbed down and not having free will and free thought.

If the government is guilty of anything, it's trying to keep the masses as ignorant as possible so that they can be controlled.

what a daft theory! Thing about humans is that we have a choice, To eat well or not to eat well. I love takeaways but have them as a treat cos I like to know what goes into my food 95% of the time and that means preparing my own meals. And I do think that due to pressure groups the salt and sugar is being lowered in ready meals. The government has got more things to worry about than how we feed our selves. As I said, we've got a choice and its upto us to see we eat healthily.

No... you can't blame the government on what people are eating.

Businesses are out there to make money and people are buying those high salt, sugar and fat meals.
Why? Because they taste good.

In the USA, the government labeling laws are in place so consumers know what's in the food. Ingredients, Fats, Sodium, Carbs and nutrients.

It's up to the consumer to be smart.

Most people are literate- they can read the label and decide to buy something else instead. I don't see the government forcing anybody to buy junk.

I think I'm a big girl...all grown up, and I can decide what, when, where, why, who and how to eat. I'm sure a lot of you are snickering at the idea of "who to eat," but keep in mind, I live on a small farm. I DO know "who" I'm eating. I also know their mothers name, and the sires name....I probably raised the parents from the time they were newborn. We raise meat goats, and meat rabbits.

Remember, every time we ask the Government to regulate something, it costs the tax payers MORE money. Personally I feel I'm paying out quiet enough in taxes, thank you very much. I'm all growed up...I can tie my own shoes and everything. I don't need the Government to be my "Super Parent," and try to control things I do and do not do.

If I want to go eat some salt laddened fast food junk meal, well that's my right. Sometimes I do it too....usually about once a month.

Otherwise I cook healthy meals from scratch.

As I said, I live on a farm. During kidding season, or harvest time, there's hardly time to manage to shower and sleep. Yet I can still manage to cook from scratch. I just toss stuff in the crock pot, and the bread machine. So if I can work a job that may keep me up for 24-36 hours at a strech, and still cook meals from scratch, I supose anyone working a regular 9-5 job could also find time to do the same. It just takes very minor planning. I also cook more food than we are going to eat over the course of a couple of days. On day one of the meal, I stick some of the meal in zip lock freezer bags. That way we have healthy "TV dinners" when-ever we wish, or when-ever I flat do not feel like cooking.

The bit about people not having time to cook in modern times is a load of B.S. People who eat fast food or order out all the time CHOOSE not to cook. Stop expecting the government to take care of things that YOU should be watching out for. That's what it means to be free -- YOU are responsible for your own actions. Every time the government gets involved in our personal lives we lose a little piece of our freedom. And if we keep allowing the government to do that (or expect the government to take care of us like we were all a bunch of children) we eventually get to the point where the government has more authority over the private citizen than the private citizen has freedom. Nothing like marching down the road to making the U.S. more like the U.S.S.R...

nothing to do with government and everything to do with the choice of the people purchasing and eating the meals. take responsibility for yourself.
