Does Canned Food Be Harmful After Shelf Life Expiration Date?!
You have at least a brief time, largely depending on the type of food and preservation method, to eat something that has gone past its expiration date. Many foods could easily last a month or so past the expiration date. I certainly wouldn't touch it after that for safety purposes, although it may well still be safe and edible. Certainly if the can was damaged or stored improperly it can be very unsafe. I wouldn't touch cans that have dents in them, as this can compromise the seal.
Bottom line, open the can or container and take a look. If it smells and looks okay and isn't too far past the experation date, it should be fine in most cases. For safety purposes a month past should be fine. I'm not going to risk advising anything past that. Just make certain that you follow the preparation and cooking instructions. When in doubt, throw it out. Nothing is more important than your health.
Answers: In the case of canned food, the preservation methods used before the can is finally sealed kill of MOST of the bacteria that are still in the food. Technically, the surving bacteria can easily start to grow again under the right conditions. The end result of this is spoiled food, which can in extreme cases cause cans to puff up around their edges. The experation date is intended to make certain that foods that have ben in the can for a period of time are thrown out before they go too far.

Some foods can go for a year (sometimes longer) after the exp date. Tomato products will only go for a few months because of the acid.
I have opened some food long forgotten about, several years after the exp date, and was still good.
If the can is not damaged, most likely not. I have seen cans of food several years out of date that were perfectly good. you have to watch for acid based food like tomatoes. they will eat away at the can. I used a simple rule , look at the contents, smell them and the finally taste them.
When in doubt, throw it out! Go buy another one it's not like caviar?
it can b good 4 up to a year depending on what it is
