Is there a way where I can cut or chop chunks of frozen blackeyed peas in a tupperware bowl?!

Question: I'm afraid to do it because it's very frozen & hard, & I'm afraid I might cut myself. @ the same time, I don't want to thaw the whole thing since I can't afford to waste it, & if I DID thaw the whole thing, I'd have to throw it away tomorrow.

I'd say invert it out of the tupperware bowl and chip away at the edges with a sharp knife until you have enough, but if you're really worried about cutting yourself, then put it back in the freezer until you have enough people to eat it all and make something else. Next time, freeze in individual servings in freezer bags.
EDIT: Actually, there is another way. If you have a flat head screw driver and a hammer, put the flat head against the frozen peas and hammer it into the peas. That should keep you from cutting yourself while breaking off a chunk.

You don't need to hurt yourself or totally defrost them either. Put them in a strainer and pour cold water over them briefly and they will separate. Take the ones you want to stay frozen and put them in a plastic bag and flatten them into one layer and refreeze, next time you can just break a piece off the size you like.

put the cont. in some hot water just long enough to loosen the peas then slide them out cut off what u want then return the rest
