What is a healthy snack alternative to chips and dip?... Read details please...?!
Answers: When my husband's family comes over to visit, there is a mixture of adults and children, all of whom are strong baseball fans and snack-happy. We usually grab some chips, dip, and pop for while they are over so they can eat, but when they leave we are left with all of this crappy food!! We don't have a lot of money so we don't want to waste it, but you feel so horrible having it in your body! Is there an agreeable group snack that a lot of people like, that isn't soaked in grease or crawling in calories?? PLEASE I would love some ideas! We are always having parties and this year we are still trying to lose weight, and leftover snacks are horrid. Help!
popcorn.....grapes.....shell peanuts....
Veggie tray
Hummus and Triscits
of course carrots and ranch, or veggie trays - although the ranch isn't the MOST healthy...
Pita and hummus, you can cut the pita into triangle dorrito sized pieces and back them with a little garlic powder...
my favorite munchie is edamame, it doesn't need a dip, just salt.
Grapes in yogurt could work too...
club crackers and cheese!
How about a veggie tray? Or even a fruit tray. If you want something a little more tasteful, you could try those Quaker Oats packs. The Caramel Corn rice cakes are really good and fairly low in calories. There's also Chex mix... that isn't very high in calories.
Cheese and crackers.
Sandwiches.
Mouse Traps.
Toast 6 slices of bread
Sprinkle with grated tasty cheese and cut into fingers.
Bake in a slow oven for 30-45 minutes until crunchy.
Store in an airtight container.
Vegemite under the cheese tastes nice and sweet.
Bacon sprinkles could also be added.
Frittata. Ham.
6 eggs beaten.
1 teaspoon oil.
? cup grated cheese
200g ham.
Tomato.
Salt and freshly ground Black Pepper.
1 table spoon of Fresh chopped parsley.
Heat the fry pan and add oil on a low heat and add cheese, ham, tomato, salt and pepper to beaten eggs and stir in.
Pre heat the grill.
Pour in the egg mixture and cook for 5 minutes. Do not stir.
To finish cooking put under the preheated grill until the top is brown.
Serve sprinkled with the parsley.
Others have already said it, but yeah, veggie trays.
Maybe celery and carrots and stuff like that. And with hummus maybe?
Pita chips and hummus. Here's an easy recipe where you can make your own pita's (http://www.recipezaar.com/124908). You can also make your own hummus...just look it up in the same website:)
try curdite-(think i spelt it wrong its prounced crue-day-ta)
basically you mix mayo and tomato sauce to make pink sauce and chop up veg like carrots and celery etc(which dont taste so crap cos the dips nice)
try veggies and a ranch dip- celery, carrots, green peppers, green beans, mushrooms, etc.. then with all the leftovers, make a big salad...
