I have an over abundance of fresh limes, what can I do with them, can they be frozen??!
Answers: When I have extra limes I like to add slices/wedges of them to my drinks throughout the day. Same with lemons. They go with everything from soda to water to ice tea to fruit drinks and juices. You can also use them with garlic, olive oil, and herbs to make great marinades for whatever meat or veggie you are making for dinner. You can definitely add the zest or juice to baked goods. Add the zest to your usual recipe for pound cake, muffins, or even waffles and pancakes. And of course...there is always key lime pie. Regular limes are just as suitable for this pie as key limes.
No. Water expands when it's frozen and those tiny "bags" that hold the juice are so delicate, they'd burst causing the lemon to be really soggy when it thaws. Sell them at the nearest farmer's market. Give them away to neighbors. Set up a limeade stand.
Take up Mexican cooking or hold a margarita party.
Make limeade with lime juice sweetener of your choice and water. You can add strawberries or other berries. And you can freeze the juice from the limes to make drink from later.
Or you could share them with neighbors. I like limes squeezed in my beer. Enjoy!
yes limes can be frozen. but are also good like lemons to put into glasses of what. its actuallu good!
Make key lime pie!
You can freeze the squeezed juice of the limes in ice cube trays , then put them into plastic bags to use later.....The juice can be used in so many recipes.....and is great in margaritas....lol
Don't freeze the limes.
Squeeze them and freeze the juice.
If you want to use them fast, here are some ideas in order of the number of limes you'll use up:
1. Limeade
2. Key Lime Pie (regular lime juice is okay..)
3. Squeeze limes into your favorite fruit juice to add vit c
4. Make a big batch of margaritas
5. Make mexican food....most grilled/fried meats get spritzed with fresh lime juice when you eat them. Saute shredded chicken or pork, add pickled jalapenos, squirt with lime juice, and eat with hot corn tortillas...that's authentic.
6. Make CEVICHE....you need lots of lime juice to actually "cook" the seafood
Shellac them and use them as a centerpiece.
