Carrots???!

Question: Is it true that if you eat a lot of carrots, you will turn orange?

Answers: Is it true that if you eat a lot of carrots, you will turn orange?

Absolutely it can happen but you need to eat a lot. This happened to one of my employees. We were processing Winter Squash (dark orange same Vit. A as Carrots) -this product is the consistency of mashed potato and deep orange which we have cooked and then freeze to the retail trade.
This gal was the quality control person who was to check the quality attributes of the product every 20-30 minutes. One of those checks was for flavor which was easy since this product goes thru a heating process and tastes very good.
After about 2 weeks one day she came in with a Dr. slip saying she could not do that job anymore -- she was turning orange very much the color of Jaundice!!

I don't know about adults but if babies drink a large amount of carrot juice then there skin will start to turn orange but it's not a bad thing carrots are good for babies!

Yup. "Carotene" is the red or yellow hydrocarbon pigment that gives carrots their characteristic cheery color, and also helps to brighten up egg yolks, sweet potatoes, and a variety of leafy vegetables. Intemperate carrot consumption will make the carotene build up in your bloodstream. Before you know it, your skin will take on a sickly yellow pallor, a grisly condition that superficially resembles jaundice and you've got carotenosis.

doubt it,
and if so,
it would have to be a TON of carrots.

yes. it happened to me and my great grandmother but, We still love carrot juice......

How many and for how long is what is debatable!

no that's utter nonsense i eat bags of them every day and i havent turned orange but sometimes my stools turn light orange but its OK its because this type of veg has beta carotene

well it does help with a tan..... you get really dark if you eat alot of carrots.... but no i doubt you turn orange!!!

I heard of that too. I've been wondering too. Most people told me it's true. But you would have to eat A LOT of carrots. But if you just have a few it wont do any thing. try it yourself! =D
