They are going to sell cloned animal meat unlabeled?!

Question: what do you of this? Cloning animals and selling their meat in the grocery store and not labeling it?

Cloning animals aren't different from any other animals, and will taste the same the whether they are cloned or not. It will taste just like the animal that it was cloned from. People will think it's weird if they labeled "Clone" on our meat. And We really don't need to know if the meat is cloned as long as it is good, and we know it's going to be quality meat. We won't be able to tell the difference unless the cloning process went wrong, and that highly likely to happen with all of our technology today.

Its been going on a lot longer than you realize. It is no different than the cloning and altering they have been doing to apples, lettuce and other crops that grow.

I haven't heard that. Do you have a link? I would like to read it.

As to the first answer, our apples and other fruits and vegetables are not cloned. They are cross pollinated to make another variety of fruit or vegetable. Cloning would be identical. They have been using artificial insemination for years to make more cattle.

I did read where the actually grew a rat's heart from cells in a lab and got it to beat. This was in yesterday's news. It is research for growing organs for people who need them.

I doubt it but even if they do its harmless

Who cares if it's cloned. If they got a really tasty steak out of a steer and then clone the steer, more power to them and pass the plate over here please.

There is no difference between cloned animals and 'normal' animals. Look into it a little more before you freak out. By questioning that you're only showing that you're not very smart.

i think that's awful. are they really going to do that? i mean, wow if it's all safe and stuff that's an amazing scientific thing but i wouldn't be happy to buy cloned meat without a label! i'd like to know what i'm eating. it's like selling lamb but labelling it pork. woaaaah

I haven't heard of it but it sounds questionable. I think they should label it.

yes, the FDA approved it last week

Are you aware that the vegetables you buy in the grocery store are genetically engineered? What's the diff?

I don't like it.

Meat is murder, whether it is from the original animal or a cloned animal. Maybe something like that would get people to stop eating meat.

Where did you hear this? I heard scientists found a way to grow just the meat of an animal in a lab (so there's no killing involved if you wanted to eat it.) But thats it. It's illegal not to label it.

I just saw that on the news!!!!!! Yeah! they are selling unlabled cloned meat! why clone the animals though????!!!! I dont think it is safe. There are chemicals in the cloning system that may be hazardous! idk... but thats my veiw.

We will have to wait and see, won't we.

This is simple ignorance of genetics. If it is the same thing genetically, it is the same thing.

cloned meat is not harmful. it is just that it came from an animal that is genetically identical to the one next to it. you wouldn't be worried if you were eating a cow's twin, so don't worry about it's clone either.

Yes....the cloned meat will NOT have labels designating them from other meats.
