Would you knowingly eat cloned meat?!
Answers: It's just been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Ahh you beat me to it, I was just looking to ask this!! Darn.
Absolutely not. No way, no how. It really irks me. The FDA may say it's safe now then recant that statement 5 years down the road. I like my meat organic, hormone free, from a REAL animal. I prefer to keep my food as real and clean as possible, and that just doesn't sound good to me. Oh, I left out that I don't agree with it. Thanks to the poster below me for the reminder!
If the price is cheaper and still has the vitamins/protein as the "orginal", then yes.
Considering all the other crazy stuff we consume (and a lot we might choose not to if we were aware of it) yeah...I don't have a problem with it. If I hear there are thought to be negative issues for those that consume it, then I'd worry but I haven't heard that (if such info is out there, I missed it).
i would eat it under these circumstances
1. It would have to be cheaper than the real thing
and
2. taste the same
No. It is not natural. What are the side affects? Long term affects? What went into cloning these animals?
But the main reason is I DO NOT agree with cloning! Especially since this is all based on greed. People want meat faster. Now natural reproduction isn't fast enough? What's going on in this country!
I've been wondering myself. Think I'll wait to see what further data is released. It's amazing that in a time when we are supposedly looking to more natural food sources that this now appears.
Edit: Thought you might be interested to know there's more in the news today about cloned cattle--not to be used for consumption but for breeding purposes. Still, the whole thing makes me uneasy.
really, I really don't think it has any effect on the meat though cloning is just making a living animal just like another one(hopefully one that's healthy with no defects)
No, especially since this is the 2nd approval by the FDA. The first was in 2006.
Makes me wonder why they needed 2 approvals?
And its not just meat, but milk & milk products, too!
I totally agree with miss Scarlett .
