How Much is a Normal Serving for Rice for One Adult?!

Question: Please help me here.
On a package of Basmati Rice it says 1/4 cup is one serving.

Now, does that mean that one serving is all you are supposed to eat?

Or can you eat 2 servings. And, if you do eat 2 is that going over or above the daily dietary requirement.

Any suggestion is helpful..... Thanks.....

1/4 cup of DRY rice is one recommended serving. When cooked, this equates to 1 cup of rice (rice grows four times its size when cooked). 1 cup of rice equates to two servings of grains.

Each amount equates to one serving of starches and grains:

1/2 bagel
1 slice of bread
1/2 cup bran cereal
1 1/2 cup puffed cereal
1/2 cup hot cereal
1/2 cup corn
1/3 cup couscous
1 cup croutons
1/2 english muffin
1/2 hamburger roll
whole hotdog roll
1 packet oatmeal
1/2 cup homemade oatmeal
1/2 cup pasta
1/2 cup peas
1/2 of a 6 inch pita bread
1/8 of large pizza crust
5 cups popcorn
1 small potato
12 mini pretzels
1/2 cup cooked rice
1 small dinner roll
2 pieces taco shell
1 waffle
1/2 cup yams

Aim for 6 servings of starches and grains per day (2 at each meal).

The servings on a food package relate only to the contents of the package and very rarely to real servings. A normal serving of cooked rice is somewhere between 1/2 and 1 full cup. I also think the 1/4 cup you mention is uncooked.

If you aren't on a special diet limiting your carbohydrates then you can eat until you are satisfied -- it's up to you.

Example: If you eat 1/2 a cup, then you would need to multiply each item listed by two.

1/4 cup is one serving. If you chose to eat more that's entirely up to you.
