What food(s) taste best liquidised?!
Answers: My mum has recently fractured her jaw and has to eat things minced to a pulp or very runny. She's getting bored of mashed potato and smoothies so would welcome some new exciting yummy suggestions.
Any kind of fruit or vegetable can be ground or blended.
You might google potage recipes. It's a thick, blended soup with meat stock (or meat) potatoes, veggies, etc. I had this when I was in France and it was wonderful. Exactly what I'd want if I had to eat liquified food. That or my homemade potato soup.
There are some good cream soups on the market too. I love the cream of celery and cream of chicken.
My recipe (actually directions) for potato soup.
6 strips of bacon fried crisp and broken up
3 medium potatoes cut in chunks
1 small onion, diced
4 oz evaporated milk (but you can use regular milk)
2 tsp butter or margarine
Salt and pepper to taste
Boil the potatoes as you would for mashed. Cook the onion in the bacon grease until it turns clear. When the potatoes are about half done, add the rest of the ingredients to them and cook until done. You can put this in a blender, adding a bit more milk if needed to get the desired consistency.
strawberries and bananas
Soup.
pudding, rice pudding, soups that are creamed or pureed.
fruits
Try blueberries with whey powder.
Maybe pasta and sauce
Any type of sweet succulent fruit, ( strawberries, bananas, peaches, etc.)
Any fruit. Since it is your mom she probably wouldn't mind peas or broccoli.
Stew.
Wow that is tough. Poor lady.
liquified, it shouldve been
and all fruits
Pea and Ham soup, Tomato and Basil soup, Scotch Broth, Bovril. If it was me I would have anything you're cooking just put it in a blender.
I hope she gets well soon.
Edit - Jim - My husband is Korean and had his wisdom teeth pulled last year. I should have known about the porridge. It might have saved a few visits to the doctor. xx
I'm Korean, and there are a lot of different porridges in our cuisine, for which I am very thankful when I had my wisdom teeth pulled. Try going to a korean market and ask for that. The pumpkin porridge is delicious and they have these in "just add hot water" kinds so it's easy to make. They have a large variety of porridge, so it won't feel like the same thing over and over again.
If she doesn't like it, you always have yogurt.
I had my jaw wired shut for 6 weeks when I was in HS. I would blend up soups, I also drank ensure. My mom would go to chilli's and get me the chicken enchilada soup, she'd ask them to blend it, it was really good.
stew as it looks like soup but with the flavour of a full dinner.
i use carrots and tomatoes pureed -its very tasty and of course very healthy-hope mum feels better soon x
get her on the babay food, i still eat the pear and strawberry fool puddings.yum, yum, good stuff you know.Just avoid liquidised pasta...truly rank i sh*t you not.
regards bubba.
smoothies, juices, soup!
i love water... :P
something like mince is alright?
because i know this thing which is like mince and spices encased in potato and fried. it's like heaven. and really soft!
Also, soft cake, jelly, ice cream, sweets and chocolate is so fun to suck :)
Almost anything...for meat add a nice gravy and liquidise very well and for veggies add mild cream or butter or some water with stock all tastes okay. Seet things like chocolate are the best and other sweet things like cake mashed with a custard or cookies mashed up with some warm milk or coffee. The trick is getting the right consistency
Soup,pudding,custard....hhhmmmm custard cake and custard yum!Gravy also tastes great especially on meats and fishes and most of all bangers and mash yummy!delicious
Depends on her taste in food too. I'd love roasted butternut squash, or parsnips pureed. Or any soups that she loved before having her accident. I'd puree my Dad's roast dinners, then add the mash last so it doesn't go gloopy. Never over blend the mash bad idea....
What does she fancy?
