Is it wrong to eat factory farmed chickens?!
Answers: I have been watching all the shows on tv with Hugh fearnly-whats his name and Jamie I'm a twat Oliver. So I want to know what do you think?
i do think it's wrong to support factory farming practices by purchasing and eating the chickens produced there.
if we are going to eat meat, it's only ethical that we should be fully aware of how that meat came to be sitting on our plates. if you can't face the truth about it, then you shouldn't be eating it.
When I eat chickens I don't ask for their previous address.
No. They still taste like chicken.
Unless you know someone who owns a farm then you pretty much have two choices. Either eat your nuggets and don't think about it or go vegetarian. I personally dont think its right but now days what choice do you have?
me too i eat meat and chicken...as long as its from the store and packaged with a name brand im totally fine eating it!!
There is nothing wrong with eating them. Jesus said that what ever that God put here on this earth is clean and fine to eat
Right, I'm from America, so I'm not sure if factory farmed is the ssme as our CAFOs (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations), but they aren't very good for you, the animals, or the environment.
I live in the country, and there are a few turkey CAFOs around, and it is basically just a means to dump a concentrate of animal $hit into the environment. The people who run them never dispose of the waste properly, and lobbyists make sure the laws is either on their side or not enforced. It seeps into the water, the air smells horrible... They are pretty damn gross.
They also tend to give the animals large quantities of antibiotics and steroids, and tend to employ illegal immigrants at below the minimum wage. About six years ago a large Tyson turkey house in Arkansas that employed many illegal immigrants took to locking it's doors from the outside during work hours because people were "taking to many breaks." It caught fire, and about two hundred people died. It made national news for about two days.
They also put local and family farmers out of business.
Yes, the prices are cheaper, but it is awful on the environment, bad for employees, bad for communities, and the products generally aren't good for you.
If you can afford it, it really is best to buy organic meat and eggs. Organic veggies seem a bit of a crock to me, but almost any animal product is better organic or from family farms.
I guess that would be a personal choice on your feelings about how they are raised and if you can afford the price tag in organic or free-range chickens. As for it being wrong...I don't think it warrants a trip to confession! LOL
