In Oklahoma - the watermelon is considered a vegetable and has actually been named the state vegetable.

I know - go figure. Only in Oklahoma.

I'm not sure what you were looking to solve with this question/answer combo but here goes anyway.

A berry is a simple fleshy fruit such as strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, etc... The fruit of citrus trees such as oranges, kumquats, and limes are MODIFIED fruit called HESPERIDIUM.

The FRUIT of the cucumber and its relatives, including melons, is also a type of MODIFIED FRUIT referred to as PEPOES.

So....yes, watermelons ARE fruit....sorry to disappoint you.

Webster's Universal College Dictionary says they are fruits.
