Did anyone check the label on their sausages after Jamie oliver last night?!
Answers: I was pretty shocked to find mine are 41% meat! :/ but i am going to carry on eating them! I dont like any others much, but im definately never eating hot dog sausages again after the mechanically reclaimed thing
What an eye opener to what crap we actually eat and don't think twice about it after watching that last night we'll be paying a lot more attention to the ingredients of our food thought it was a really good programme but couldn't watch the big fat man being butchered to show the damage his body had due to a bad diet
Why are the people of this country so ignorant of life that it takes a TV chef to enlighten them? Don't they have any curiosity to discover things for themselves??
...i eat apple sausages....yum...
im getting sick of being told what to eat and not too,god he must be raking it in,god anything to get some dosh
i knew we have less meat in our sausages then other Europeans but that what makes our sausages taste nice.
i also know the different egg categories, the meaning of most of the ingredients in foods, the manufacturers method of preserving and storing our foods etc.
I had a very good education.
So nothing surprises me. Because i know this i know that the quality of our foods have genuinely got better over the years especially now the public are becoming more aware.
There have been many people before Jamie Oliver who have correctly pointed out that not all sausages - particularly supermarket cheap brands - contain meat. In fact, most are gristle and tripe!
I seem to recall seeing Gordon Ramsay's F-Word cover this story a year or so ago in one of it's mini-segments.
If you want to eat decent sausages, you need to check the labels and go for the more expensive ones. The budget brands are so cheap because they are made of the ground up, leftover bits from butchers.
I'll stick to my quorn sausages. :D
