What do you put apple butter on? And what exactly is it? I really have no clue.?!
It is served with raisin bread at "Waffle House" as part of their Cheesy Eggs Platter
It's pretty good in my opinion
* Traditional apple butter is applesauce mixed with cider slowly cooked until the natural sugar in it carmelizes and turns brown. However there are some newer varieties that add some butter to make it creamier
It has a good shelf life and was used historically for its ability to keep.
Answers: It's sort of like a condensed applesauce boiled down with spices and sugar. There are many recipes.

Use it like jelly.
Its like a jelly, my wife puts it on toast and PB and J sandwichs
I don't know exactly what it is. We made it in gradeschool onetime, and I eat it all the time. I put it on toast and waffles.
homemade bread, a slab of real butter, and a smear of apple butter.....NIRVANA!
Apples, blended down to sauce, brown sugar, cinnamon, and just a tiny hint of clove. Cook to a boil, let cool. Yum!
I love it on scrapple.
It's a sweet thick spread made from apples and molasses.
apple butter is not like butter per se. the consistency is a little thicker than applesauce (sweeter than applesauce too), but it is used like a condiment similar to jam/jelly... so people put it on toast, waffles, pancakes, on bread for sanwhiches.
Apple Butter is a type of jam. You can put it on toast, bread,
bagels, English muffins, etc.
Not sure exactly what it is...but it's sorta like jelly. I like it on toast or on saltine crackers
Yeah it's like jelly my grandpa uses it all the time he loves it! He puts it on toast and just plain bread. Oh he also puts it on peanut butter sandwiches
There are different kinds of apple butter but the basic is pretty much just cooked and mashed apples, sugar and a tad of vinegar. Usually has some cinnamon in it and then it's all cooked together until thick. The only thing I ever ate it on was buttered toast. Never really thought to put it on anything else. It's pretty good.
you put apple butter on bread for a sandwich or some people like it on cakes for a topping it is something like jelly or jam and it is made from apples that is cooked completely up in a big crock and it makes something like a paste then you add cinnamon to it . it is used for putting on bread with peanut butter also.
