For a hot soup/cold sandwich combo, I would go with either cream of mushroom or cream of tomato soup paired with a roast beef sandwich that has a horseradish sauce, lettuce, cheese and thinly sliced onions on it or a turkey, cheese, lettuce and 1000 Island dressing sandwich both made on 100% ground whole wheat bread.

Chicken Tortilla soup, with a veggie wrap

I live in Canada and do not know what Kentucky's pallet is like.

I like cream of tomato soup and grilled cheese & bacon sandwich.
or
Cream of mushroom soup with toasted western sandwich.
or
Clear chicken broth with croutons & toasted club house sandwich.

So, I see you are reading our comments and now telling us what you don't want. Be nice if you told us what you do want and what they eat & drink in Kentucky. I am not deleting my answer because I have answered your question.

Cream cheese with ham sandwich and tomato soup,or pea and ham soup with chicken sandwich.

Actually, potato soup with italian sausage and leek would help to fine tune a Kentuckian taste bud while still being comforting enough for them to step outside the box.

As for cold sandwich, cold sandwiches suck. If you are eating hot soup, you want a hot sandwich with it.

yucatecan citrus soup with a bacon lettuce and tomato sandwich.

1) sweet potato soup with a veggie burger or a tuna sandwich
2) tortilla soup with an Italian wrap
Hope I helped!

Tuna sandwich and clam chowder.
Roast beef and tomato bisque.
