What dish, or treat from the past would you love to taste again?!

Question: Could be anything from your dead grannie's fruit cake, to Cadbury's Aztec bar.
For me it would be my grandad's special fried chicken, the whole family have tried hundreds of recipes and it STILL doesn't taste the way his did!

My mother's Banana Fritters.
She wasn't the best in the kitchen but she made the best Fritters. They would just melt in your mouth. The recipe was handed down to me when my mother passed away, almost 20 years now and I have followed the recipe to the T but every time I've made them its just not the same. I'm thinking I'm missing one ingredient, my mother's love.

school spam roll

licorice sticks - not those red or black gummy thing you get now but the actual sticks - bits of would - we would suck on them for hours

'Pacers' spearmint chews. Like mint Chewits but they don't even do them anymore. You can get spearmint chews in the pound shop but they're not as good. Also, no one did bacon sandwiches as well as my grandma. She is still with us but too old now to be cooking for other people. I need to ask her how she got them so good.

That's a coincidence-mine would be my late sister's fried chicken. Even though we made it together hundreds of times, mine is never the same.

Nothing seems to taste quite like who your granny used to make. I wonder if years ago the ingredients or the meat they used would have been so much more real if you know what I mean. But i do miss good old stovies, they never seem to taste the same.

A Monte Cristo sandwich from Ken's in Copley Square in Boston.

Clam Chowder soup made by an Italian chef in a Miami Beach Art Decor style hotel in the 1960's. It was his speciality, and it was superb.
