Anybody Ever Heard Of Fried Pickles?!

Question: OK, down here in Alabama we have fried dill pickles. But when I moved up to Virginia nobody had even heard of them. Just wondering if they are a Southern thing or if I'm the only one out there thats had this.

Also, any cool sauces to dip them in or interesting breadings are welcome.

Oh yeah, they are wonderful...in fact, the Food Channel did a whole show about them, varying frying methods, breadings and dipping sauces, you should check out the Food Channel Website and type in Fried Pickles in the Search area. My favorite sauce for them is 1/2 Ketchup, 1/2 Mayo with a hint of Fresh Horseradish and my choice of breadings is Panko (Japanese) breadcrumbs with white pepper and dry mustard, it gives them a light, flavorable coating while increasing their body size. Good luck and happy eating, the South has wonderful food! Renee

It's a southern thing. I moved from up north to Georgia. I have heard of them before I moved but no body else had and they are not served in restaurants like in the South.
I've heard that Ranch dressing is good to dip them in.

wow thats interesting ive never heard of it but i have heard of hot fudge pickles it was a book they read in elementry school to us along time ago. but their is a recipie in the back for it. supriseingly it was good

in the south, they seem to fry everything. i've heard of fried twinkies, too.

OK. Im from North Carolina. When I moved to Louisiana, I saw Fried Pickles on the menu for the first time. Apparently, they are fairly common here. So, I would have to say that this is something seen in the Deep South more so than just in the South.

ew thats disgusting.
its like a heartattack waiting to happpen.

That's an interesting handle you have there Buddy...considering the exotic foods you consume

Yeah, I saw it on the food channel

I'm Canadian and have been right down the East Coast to Florida and I stay in Virginia for a month every two years as well as North Carolina. I've been to quite a few BBQ's and never heard of Fried pickles before. Now I have and I'll take your word for it.
