Why does the outside of my cookies get crisp before the middle part? How can I get them to cook evenly?!
Answers: Thank you!
Turn them about halfway through your allotted time!! Also taking them out when they just start to look golden brown and then leave them on the pan for about two to three mins will help the middles finish cooking!
by turning she means turning the pan around in the oven i have done that too. with the person above me and the person below me you should have it right. use both suggestions.
It could be your oven bakes at a higher temperature. If you have an inexpensive, thin cookie sheet, the cookies may not bake evenly. You can lower your oven temp by 25 degrees.
Make sure you are cooking in the center of the oven, as that may cause your cookies to cook unevenly.
Also, try making the cookies smaller, if cookies are too large than the outsides, which are more readily exposed to the heat, will get browned and the inside will still be dough. That's happened to me on more than one occasion.
