Why is thickened cream actually thinner than pure cream?!

Question: I don't understand.

Answers: I don't understand.

cream is watered down to be sold - guess it just sells better that way. Thickened cream is thicker than the average cream they sell. real untouched cream is thickest.

It has different names and definitions around the world, but how I understand it, thickened cream is thinner so you can whip it, but then there is an even thinner version (single cream) that doesn't whip but is good for cooking because it doesn't split (separate) as easily.

thickened cream is the same as runny "non-thickened" cream except it has gelatine or another thickener added to it. Pure cream will have a higher milk fat content, which is what makes it thick.
