Why arent we allowed to eat onions during fast?!

Question: pease tell me as quickly as possible

Answers: pease tell me as quickly as possible

Onion has a punjant taste and it was not concidered as satwic food.[there is a story of Chakrayudha for cross cut-onion]. So people even not used cross cut-onions for long time, even now.
So it was not included in different kind of fasting like once in a day/ non-Rise fasting ,...
It simulates Digestion(thats y used with non-vegs). during fasting we need less acidic foods.

If you fast you are not suppose to eat anything.

It is yet another myth called 'onion myth'! It is wrong to mix food with religion!

because it makes your breath stink!! duh

Because it comes from Below the ground....anything grown up from below the ground is not allowed...

Because its smell is very bad!!=)

I thought that onions and garlic were supposed to "arouse the senses". That was what some pandit told me when I asked why none of the little shops next to the main temple in Mathura sold food made with onions and garlic....
And then he told me that during our fast, our senses should not be aroused because that defeats the whole purpose of fasting. I thought that a fast was not eating at all...
Us Jewish folks celebrate Yom Kippur, and we fast for 24 hours, no water, food, cannot brush your teeth, nothing.
It forces the mind focus on other things....
