Freezing meat - can I freeze pork cutlets & gammon steaks/joints?!
Answers: I'm fairly sure freezing & defrosting steak is a bad idea, but how would pork and gammon taste? Chicken and beef are fine, in my experience, and I've never tried fish (apart from prepared crumbed fillets) but probably would buy it fresh anyway.
Yes. It usually says on the pack if prepacked, or if it's fresh just ask the butcher where you buy it. I've cooked and eaten most foods after having been frozen and it's tasted just fine. Fish is good as with the small white fish fillets you can cook from frozen in just a few minutes, in the microwave, add some veg's and some sauce of your choice and you've got a quick very good and tasty dish.
YES you caan freeze pork but it must be defrosted thouroughly before cooking, but as with everything you freeze it does impare the tatse a little in my opinnion
I've frozen beef steak many a time and its been fine, there shouldn't be a problem with pork or gammon as long as you freeze it on the day of purchase, dont keep in the freezer for more than 2 months and make sure it is completely defrosted before you cook it (I'm pretty sure you are sensible enough to do that anyway!!)
Enjoy x
You can freeze anything and when properly defrosted it can be cooked and eaten. If you defrost some food and don't use it then DO NOT refreeze it!! Also I would check with the meat or fish supplier if it has been defrosted already! My Dad works in the fish indusrty and you will be amazed that fish mongers will buy frozen fish, defrost it and then sell it on and tell the customer that it is fresh! My Dad doesn't do this, hence being in a bit of debt from buying fresh quality fish!!
w/ a vacumn sealer you can get the good cuts of meat when on sale + enjoy them quite awhile later , i freeze or can nearly anything . meats will last 4 or more x longer when vacumn sealed . you can use that money you save on something else
You can just about freeze anything.we have been doing it for years
All taste the same after defrosting, a rule of thumb is you may only freeze meat fish etc once.
After its been cooked you can refreeze we do it with roasts a lot as there is only 2 of us now.
I also used to freeze full meals for my son when I wasn't going to be home
