How can you make quick cook oatmeal taste good?!
They just don' t ever feel like they get done in the microwave.
Not creamy and soft like Mom made before pre-cooked oatmeal.
Any Ideas?

Here's how I make my "instant" oatmeal soft & creamy....my grandkids love how I cook it.
I pour the packet of instant oatmeal in a microwave bowl and pour in enough milk to make a soupy mix, like about 1/3 cup or so. I stir well to get all the oats wet, then I microwave for 1 minute.
I remove the bowl from the microwave, add more milk (another 1/3 cup or so) to make the oats just slighty wetter then I want to eat it as. I usually add any extras at this point. If you are starting with plain/sweetened oatmeal and want to "doctor it up", try adding some cinnamon, a little brown sugar, some fruit (raisins, dates, finely chopped apples or peaches) chopped walnuts, etc. Oatmeal loves company.
Stir well and then microwave the oatmeal again for another minute.
I don't know why it helps to use milk instead of water, to use just half the milk and cook for half the time at first. Or why that little rest from cooking... while you are adding the rest of the milk before the second cooking period helps, but it does for me. I think I started doing this because sometimes the recommend amount of water/milk was either too much or little little. Stopping halfway through and checking on how thick or thin it is allows you to do a quick adjust with the milk. Don't worry if the oatmeal becomes really thick at any point, you can always add a bit more liquid.
A pinch of cinnamon
A dash of Vanilla
a tea spoon of sugar..
All three mixed in.. (one small bowl)
Yum!!!
Yes. Try grits instead with lots of butter, salt, and pepper.
sue milk instead of water and add honey
just cook normal outmeal in the microwave. it tastes almost the exact same and it only takes like five minutes. plus you can make it one bowl at a time like instant or quick oats
Put some sugar or brown sugar in it, it tastes amazing!
If you want creamy and soft, use more water, and let the oatmeal set in the microwave for a couple minutes AFTER it is done. I believe this is actually mentioned on the directions on the package.
applesauce
I always cook oatmeal on the stove. Your right, in the microwave it doesn't taste done. But I put butter, brown sugar, a little cinnamon and milk and sometimes a splash of vanilla. YUMMY
Maybe you need to add an extra 15 seconds to 30 seconds cooking time to it. Some microwaves are 700w and some are 1,100w.
My husband likes brown sugar in his oatmeal. Cinnamon and a little sugar is good too.
We buy the box of 12 packages. Just pour on 1/2 cup of hot water and let it sit for a couple of minutes. You can buy all different flavors.
brown sugar, or chocolate chips, or butterscotch chips, or maple syrup
use some cinnamon and brown sugar! You will not be disappointed.
I always use some milk, add sugar, cinnamon, and some raisins. It's good! You can also try putting brown sugar in it or some fruits.
You can't. Oatmeal is the most vile food on the planet. Mush. Ew.
Definitely use milk instead of water, as someone said. There are many ways to flavor it, such as
-maple syrup
-blueberries
-honey
-apple pie filling
-raisins
-any chopped fruit
-brown sugar
-chopped pecans or almonds
-coconut milk
-cinnamon
use proper instructions then add sugar to taste , add butter
to taste , and 3 tbl. spoons of milk and eat.
Add a teaspoon full of margarine or butter to the bowl after the oatmeal has cooked, stir in before you add milk and sugar. Adding a pinch of salt to the mix before cooking also helps bring out the flavor.
