As I am not a beef connoisseur (can't stand the stuff), I tried Kobe (or Wagyu as some places are now calling it) out of sheer curiosity. I reckon it tastes EXACTLY the same as any other piece of cow. I think a lot of people are fooling themselves into thinking it's something special because of the outrageous price they've paid for it. I'd like to see a blindfold test conducted. I defy anyone to differentiate Kobe/Wagyu from any other "expensive cut" of beef.

would like to find out. there is a Kobe bred beef that is bred domestically in the USA now after several years of negotiating between the US and Japanese governments, but they say it is not nearly as good as the imported stuff, due to diet.

Heck no, it's de-lish! We had the kobe beef tenderloin and lobster tail at Craft Steak in MGM Grand. It was out of this world. Obviously, not something you eat often, but definitely something to try if you get the opportunity!

as a private chef i have the luxury of trying products like kobe beef and i have to say that it is simply delicious...but not worth the price tag. for most applications you cannot beat a piece of prime or choice grade beef.

It is fantastic. However, much of the Kobe beef that is in restaurants is not truly japanese Kobe. They will say it is, but it is not.

We had it in Australia several years ago. It's very expensive. We felt that USDA Prime meat is certainly equal to it, but most people do not /have not eaten Prime meat .

NOpe.. It depends on what type of Kobe.. US Kobe or Japan Kobe.. They do the same techniques to the cow but there is something in the water that makes the meat taste better.

It is a dam tender stake no matter type. They are quite expensive. I had a NY that was $48 for 12oz US Kobe. I thought it was a good deal.

If you have a nice resturant you will attract some rich clients. THey like that stuff.

I will only get it on special occasions.

I've never had the opportunity to try it. I understand it is very expensive.

i havn't had it before
but the reason it is so expensive is because they massage there cows...
basically they are very pampered
