They're a little different, but quite similar!
Hope I helped!

yes yes yes

They're not exactly alike but the taste is similar and in a pinch, you can substitute cream cheese for mascarpone. The taste won't be as rich, but it'll pass.

yes it is

(i need points)

Yes it can be made in sweet and savory dishes.

Mascarpone is a triple-cream cheese made from crème fra?che by denaturing with rennet. Sometimes buttermilk is added as well, depending on the brand. After denaturation, whey is removed without pressing or aging.

One can manufacture mascarpone by using cream, tartaric or citric acid, or even lemon juice. Mascarpone is used in various dishes of the Lombardy region of Italy, where it is a specialty. It is milky-white in color and is easily spread. When fresh, it smells like milk and cream, and sometimes it is used instead of butter or Parmesan cheese to thicken and enrich risotti. It is also a main ingredient of tiramisu.

They have similarities, but they are definitley different cheeses. If you are unsure about replacing one for the other in a recipe - experiment! You may be pleasantly surprised.

It is very easy to make. The texture will not be the same if you use cream cheese. Let me know if you want me to post the simple recipe.

Not exactly the same, but it will work if you don't have marscapone

yep!~

Marscapone is very rich. Probably why it tastes so good. It's much softer and more pliable than cream cheese. It's also a great deal more expensive. I wouldn't think of using cream cheese in a Tiramisu as it lacks the sweetness and is more solid even at room temperature.

Marscapone is probably best known in North America for making Tiramisu.
