Why don't Westerners change their unhealthy diets to that of the Asians??!

Question: East Asians are by far, healthier and slimmer than the West...so why don't we just copy them?? We need to do something about the weight issue in UK, so why don't we simply copy Asian eating habbits...like the Japanese and eat lots of rice, fish, fruit, veggies??

Explaining sumos - their weight gain is induced by eating huge amounts of food for dinner.
Asians have a phylosophy - Eat your breakfest yourself, share your lunch with a friend, and give your dinner to your enemy.
Clearly stating that the main meal of the day is breakfest, that you can go light on your lunch, and that your dinner is something you can even skip.
I'm following this phylosophy and body fat melts away.
In US we make our main meal dinner - gulpng huge amounts of food before bedtime, and it doesn't stop there. After that we still snack on crackers, have a bottle of beer, popcorn with TV etc.
Opposit to what's essential for our health and well being.
US - Sumo Nation.

explain sumo's, not so slim huh.

It's hard to change habits. Our diet wouldn't be that bad if we cut back on processed foods and learned to eat until we we're satiated not full. Many American foods are traditional, as in having been around a long time and are associated w/family and holidays thus making us long for them more than foods we don't know. A typical midwestern meal: meat loaf, mashed potatoes, and green beans....if the meat loaf was made mostly of ground turkey and oatmeal instead of white breadcrumbs, the potatoes had the skins left on and were mixed with plain yogurt instead of sour cream and if the green beans were steamed instead of being cooked for hours w/bacon fat they'd be comfort foods w/out being so heavy on the heart.

Yeah right

because we're junk food junkies. 33 percent of people in the US are now overweight thanks to gigantic serving sizes in restaurants, high fat and highly processed foods in their diets. Then there is the alcohol and the soda and the sodium and sugar and the false advertising.

My taste buds are now addictied to all the junk food so, personally and imho, it is hard work to rescue my taste buds and get them to enjoy rice, fish, fruits and veggies. I am trying, but I can't say I'll ever like a bowl of brown rice with tofu and broccoli better than chocolate. i'm getting better, but, like i said, it's hard work.

imho, industrial society has been awful for the human race because it places more emphasis on industries (like the food industry) than the health of the people who are in that society. We would need to give up a lot to get back to the best of basics.

Not just the Asian diet, but there are healthy diets from around the world that you British and we Americans could take a good look at. Frankly, everybody's healthier than us.
