Depends on what kind of salami you have bought. It is common on nice curred meats to have a light mold on the casing. The casing in most cases is the intestine of an animal and is def. edible. However if the casing is moldy I would skip eating the casing and attempt to remove as much of the mold as possible. If it is cheap bologna the casing will be plastic and the mold would be bad mold. Sounds like you have a nice curred sausage, i wouldn't be horrified.

yes it is. Casing is made from the stomach lining of animals.

yes you can eat the casing it is part of the salami it is not plastic it is simple the intestines that are used like your sausages but then salami is that it is just a sausage nothing more try eating it and you will see that it tastes nice and no it wont make you ill

maybe..

yes its edible its like the skin of a sausage, i know this as i used to work on the deli Xx
