What evening snacks would you recommend to stop me gettting munchies in the middle of the night?!
Answers: I sometimes wake up at about 4-5 in the morning and I have to grab something to eat. I want to stop this habit but how?
Drink a glass of milk and go back to bed...
or make sure you eat breakfast every day. I just started, doesn't even matter what you eat, just start re-programming your metabolism. (I usually grab a bagel), but honestly, it works. and i usually bring nuts or fruit to work to snack on about 2pm. So I eat breakfast at 7:30, lunch around 11, a handful of nuts or pineapple around 2, dinner at 6:30-7 and I couldn't possibly eat more even if I wanted to!! I just started this in the past month and it has made a huge difference in my energy level and food consumption. and coming from a girl that worked 18 hour days for most of the past 10 years and has been accustomed to only eating once a day, (and an energy drink in the mornings to kick me into gear). also, I started eating mostly whole grains instead of white breads. That makes a difference too! Fiber in whole grains and fruit make you feel more full than empty calories. Good luck with it, but I would definately suggest that breakfast may be the culprit.
before you go to bed have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich it helps alot because bread fills you up faster.
Eat cereal, preferably a fiber rich one will keep you full without being too heavy or making you gain weight.
You need more fiber in your diet. It helps fill you up and make you feel full longer. I would recommend lots of raw or lightly steamed vegetables. Or a bowl of high fiber cereal. try to get a cereal high in fiber but low in sugar. Sugar will just make you crash and want more later.Try grape nuts, fiber one, etc. Fiber one has this caramel flavored cereal now taht tastes kinda like cinnamon toast crunch. Also if you eat salty and sweet together it will make you want to eat more, so avoid that.
eat a bigger dinner, with ots of protein, glucose (sugar) and carbs, because they keep you full. if you get the munchies, try eating peanut butter. if you are allergic to peanuts, maybe some whole wheat cereal
i always eat popcorn before i go to bed try that
Crackers & cheese and hot chocolate before bedtime. Or if you wake up at 5:00 am, get up and have a bowl of cereal instead and better for you. That's not too early for breakfast and if you stay up and don't go back to bed you can also have a glass of orange or grapefruit juice and a glass of milk and a banana.
Try drinking more water. 90% of the time we confuse being thirsty with hungry. If you wake up at that time and you do not need to empty your bladder. Chances are that you are de-hydrated.
Although it can be a pain to wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, It is still one of the most healthy habits you can have to drink a large glass of water before going to bed.
A protein and a carb should work. A glass of milk with a couple of cookies, graham crackers or granola bar.
