Hi, I'm a baker and I like to work with fondant specially making dolls cakes. Well first you have to be familiar with the fondant. The fondant I use is the marshmallows one. You use 1 pound of marshmallows, 2 tablespoons of water, 2 pounds of confectioners sugar and like 2 tablespoons of shortening, put the marshmallows with the water in the microwave for 21/2 minutes, then mix and put the sugar one cup at the time, when you think you can knead in the table you put part of the shortening in your hands and knead it until ready, save in a plastic bag. Let's go with the Barbie, take the barbie without clothes, put into a cake , the one its already in the shape of a long skirt and with frosting around it, you make a hole in the middle of this cake's skirt and put the Barbie until the cake meet her waist. At this point you start working with the fondant, if the fondant is still soft you extended in the table and try to create a dress
you can make any design you want. If the fondant its hard, put it in the microwave for 2 minutes or until soft and knead it with shortening (this is very important, in this way the fondant will be soft and will take any shape you want.) Good luck.

I saw Martha Stewart make a Barbie cake one day on her show (this was a while back on her old shows). Check out her website for a recipe. I'm sure it's still up there.

Good luck.

do not i repeat do not bake a cake with a real barbie doll inside as you could end up realy ill if you were to eat it as for fondant iceing yes it is easy to work with

i am sure they will be delicious.
