Who has heard the "rule" about throwing out the first pancake?!

Question: I have heard people say, when making pancakes, you throw the first one away. Why? and who does this?

Answers: I have heard people say, when making pancakes, you throw the first one away. Why? and who does this?

Lets just put it this way, people who are at a Beginning level of cooking usually tend to suck at making pancakes. so most likely their first pancake will not look very appetizing so they throw it away until they make one that looks edible.

never heard that but if your throwing it away you can throw it my way.

no idea. i'm usually all over the first one

usually people tend to preheat the pan too much on the first pancake, and use too much butter or oil and it burns.

This is usually due to having a low-quality pan, and the heat up too high...

pancakes should be cooked at 300-325 (griddle), or medium heat on a electric/gas stove. add clarified butter, or oil to a paper towel, then wipe the pan between each batch, pour the batter immediately after greasing the pan, giving the butter little time to burn....watch your pancakes closely

i've heard to throw out the first waffle, not pancake though

never heard that one

I never heard that but I like the first one so would never throw it out.
