Anyone allergic to feta cheese? Each time I eat few crump, I always experience swollen left eye-lid.?!
Answers: I am 34 yr. old male. I never ate cheese and never liked it. But recently, I developed interest in eating cheese after I ate few spoonful with vegetable salad in a restaurant. After this, I went and bought a small bucket of Feta cheese. On the first day I ate a handful of crump, I experience swollen eye-lid on the left side. This lasted for about 5 days before it disappeared. I suspended eating it for like 5 more days. I then ate it again and experience same thing. I am wondering if it is because of the particular cheese that may contain unfriendly bacteria or because I am allergic to cheese, which I may doubt because on few occasions I did eat food containing cheese without problem. However, I admit that in the instant case I have eaten more that I did when I eat out.
Could be a milk allergy or antibiotics (esp. sulfa antibiotics if you are allergic to sulfa) given to the animal or other drugs. Also cheese contains a lot of fat, which stores toxins that the animal ate. Or it could be some sort of contaminant in the processing plant. The swollen left eye lid sounds like maybe something to do with blood vessels being shut off from high cholesterol or something? Maybe get your cholesterol checked just to be sure it is not just something from a high cholesterol getting even higher from eating cheese. Some people have a genetic basis for having high cholesterol.
Yes, you are allergic...give your bucket of Feta away.
