Canadian bacon is much more healthy and is more like ham and all meat, no fat, so no waste.

I am a former chef and in Canada we called it back bacon, the one MYRA C refer's to is somehting almost singularly a Canadian item, peameal is a cured, unsmoked pork loin rolled in cormeal and slice into pieces and fried (restaurant menus here it is $1.00 more per order), in the U.S it is almost unheard of, Canadian/Back bacon is a cured smoked and pressed into a roll product, so it resembles a ham like product, not as popular up here much, unless you go to McDonalds for and Egg McMuffin.
