If i boil sweetened condensed milk long enough, will i be able to turn it into candy?!
Answers: Like, bring it to the soft or hard-ball stage and then pour it out and let it harden....then voila sweetened condensed milk candy? Or does it not have enough sugar?
Actually, if you keep it in the can, simmer the can for 3 hours, you get a caramel sauce. In Mexico, this is called cajete (ca-heh-tay). I use it to make my Platano Cajete pie.
Recipe:
- Graham Cracker Crust (if you need this receipe, just ask)
- 2 small cans of Cajete, prepared from sweetened condensed milk above (or you can buy it now in most grocery stores)
- 3 ripe bananas
- Whipped cream (1 pint of whipping cream, 1/3 C powdered sugar, 1t vanilla whipped with a mixer)
Empty 1 can into the pie crust and spread evenly with two spoons. It helps if the can is warmed... loosens up the cajete sauce. Slice bananas into the pie. Cover with the 2nd can of cajete, using your spoons. Serve with whipped cream
It will make a soft caramel. But, you have to boil it IN the can. Look for a recipe on the internet and follow directions exactly. I have friends who do this and love it.
No, you can't.
it becomes dulce de leche, a milk flavored caramel.
Yes you can. You can improve it by adding few more items.
My wife makes best sweet known as BURFEE that no one we know can make like hers. Pakistani families pay her to make Burfee for them. She doesn't tell her recipe and the process of making it to any one. I am telling you the recipe because you don't live in our community and will not be her competitor. She uses
1. Sweet condensed milk
2. Ricota Cheez
3. Sugar
4. Butter,
5. Powdered Milk
She don't tell me the quantities and the process of making it. May be you can experiment and improve it slowly.
