Do you care that FDA has allowed cloned animals to be used as food & there is no requirement for labeling?!

Question: The FDA has allowed cloned animals and their offspring to be used as food is the USA. Cloned animals are known to suffer from genetic deformities and health problems. The majority don't live until adulthood. They also suffer from weaker immune systems. This means they are usually given more antibiotics, which are bad for consumers and may contibute to more antibiotic-resistant diseases. Right now there is no law requiring cloned animal food products to be labeled, so consumers are not given a choice in this matter! Is anyone else outraged by this?

If you believe cloned meat should be labeled then write a letter to your senator asking them to co-sponsor the Cloned Food Labeling Act (s.414) introduced by Senator Barbara Mikulski.

It's just not right nor ethical for them to do this without labeling it in a format large enough for anyone to see the label!I will contact my representatives and also the staff of the presidential candidates of my party. It's so wrong!!!

Although I will most likely eat cloned beef and do believe we should be able to choose and unless it's labelled I'm sure we won't know the difference. It wouldn't do for me to write to a Senator in the US because I am a Canadian.

Thanks for the info. I feel like that's BS. We should have EVERY right to know what we're eating! I guess I'm gonna have to go vegetarian. *sigh*

Careful. I posted a very similar question like this recently and it was removed because they said it was chat!
But, YES, this does concern me a lot. Did you also know that the FDA has lost track of some of the cloned beef? That these cloned cattle are now intergrated with non-cloned beef? I only buy my beef from the local butcher who carries organic beef only. We are also considering getting our own cow to raise and slaughter to further ensure its lineage. We have a 15 acre farm, so raising a pig and a cow would be easy. We already raise chickens.
But this is a horrifying prospect. The government is not giving the American people any choice in what they eat. It is utterly appalling.

well i can see the good part of cloning you could clone humans or animals for artificial organs to replace bad ones even though we have organ donors we could also you it for blood i meen think of the possibilities we could replace the need for stem cell research
