When animals are sent to slaughterhouses, does the whole herd go or only certain animals?!

Question: I'm thinking that some would stay behind as to be able to populate the ranch again.

Answers: I'm thinking that some would stay behind as to be able to populate the ranch again.

The ranchers keep breeding stock and trade breeding services to make better beef. Animals for sale meet certain criteria for size, age, and overall health. Others are kept until they are the right size, etc., then they are sold.

I think you are right. Good question.

i think they only take the fat ones
that are good enough to be sold

animals that go to slaughter are usually older animals that are not producing as they used to, and animals that have been fattened and raised for slaughter such as steers
