Do raisins belong in the fridge?!
Answers: The box says to refrigerate after opening, but then they stick together and become little rocks. So, what should I do?
I remove from box into sealable bag. Then keep in a tin as in this clime we have bugs! This double assurance has allowed my to keep my bulk buys (several pounds at a time) for as long as 1 yr with out any decrease in quality.
They keep I must say for years, though, I have had a 5 # bag of black currents for 2-3 years...I only use them to make scones, 1-2Xs a month. Keep all my dried fruits together in a big 3-4 gal size popped corn tin that usually comes at Christmas. Keep my flours in one, sugar in another and teas in the other-I am a bulk tea freak, buy many different flavors from the San Fransisco Bay Spice Co.
I keep them in the cupboard. Never had a problem.
THEY'LL PRESERVE LONGER....SO YEA......AND IF U DONT LIKE COLD...LET THEM SITFOR A WHILE B4 UEAT THEM
I don't know whether they belong in the fridge or not but that's where I keep mine. I rehydrate them in a little boiling water before using them to plump them up. The miniature boxes for snacking I just keep in the pantry and never refrigerate them.
Good question. I keep them in the cupboard, same as the other dried fruits. I only buy them when I plan to use them, so they don't sit long. TD
Keep them in an airtight plastic container, definitely don't refrigerate. Way too many food producers/packers are now advising refrigerating products that should not be refrigerated, as a means of covering their asses just in case the product is off. Dried fruit should never be refrigerated, IMHO.
If i know i am not going to touch them for a while i put in the fridge. but if the plans are to use them up in a couple of weeks then yes the cupboard is fine
Our family eats raisins. We do not put them in the fridge. Yes they get hard and dry. You can pull them out and set them in some water for a short time to soften them. Or put them in hot cereal in the microwave. We do cover the box in the pantry. Keeps unwanted guests out of the box.
keep them well sealed and in a cool dry place,( way back of the pantry and on the lowest shelf !!-- HEAT RISES -) they keep forever , anyway if you need to refridge then read the preservetives and consider a dehydrater cheap ,fun and so money saver !! i make my own as soon as the grapes are ready !! do this every week and youll have raisins year round
I've always kept mine in the cupboard. Try to leave as little air in it when you zip the seal closed, or roll up the opening and seal with a clip. They'll last longer.
You dont need to, they can keep for months in the cupboard
Like all dried fruit, raisins are dried so that they keep longer without putting them in the fridge. So, I keep mine in the cupboard in a jar. If they are too dry, I just rehydrate them by soaking them in water before I use them.
I keep them in a plastic container on the counter
No raisins go in the cupboard
The ones I get are the 'Sun Maid' brand. I leave those in the cupboard and they are tasty to the end.
What kind are you getting? Gold raisins? Plain dark raisins?
No they don't. They won't kill you or make you sick either if you leave them out. They;re dried fruit so it is ridiculous to even think about refrigerating them. You don't refrigerate other dried fruit so why them?
