Hamburger?!

Question: Why is it that a hamburger is fating? I mean think about it... a bun contains carbohydrate, meat contains iron, and veggie is good for health. So why is it fating? Somebody care to explain? Thanks a lot.

It really depends on where the hamburger is from.

From mcdonalds or other fast food, all of the ingredients contain over processed foods and preservatives. The meat still has the protein and the bread still has the carbs but there is also SO much fat in their meat and the carbs are all refined.

If you cook it at home (or from a fine restaurant) with fresh lean ground beef and hand chopped veggies, a whole wheat bun, and little to no condiments, it can actually be very healthy and a smart choice.

Fating as in ultimate destiny or Fattening as in excessive accumulation of fat. Perhaps both: I'll give you an example of Burger King Whopper - For a double Whopper with cheese 398g serving size, has 990 calories, 64 g of fat, 3 g of fibre, 52 carbohydrates + whatever you add to that.

I need the information on all fast foods as I am diabetic & have high cholesterol.

You can try these websites: www.idf.org The International Diabetes Federation or www.heartandstroke.ca The Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Because the meat used for burgers has more fat than other meat from cows. Cheese and mayo also play a part in this.
