Why do meals taste so much better when someone else cooks them for you???!
I think when it comes to food you eat with
your eyes first - it must be well presented, then aroma helps and that gets the saliva flowing and the taste buds in action. When preparing meals yourself you are bombarded so much by so many sights and aromas and the work of course by the time the meal is ready it does not taste quite the same.
Answers: I think Raine and Samantha are right. I used to have my own outside catering business - mainly corporate functions, weddings, mediaeval banquets etc and I really got sick at the sight of food because I had been with it so long. Although my clients really enjoyed the food, on my way home I would pop into my local pub and have a burger and chips!!

Because you dont see the process of making it, which makes it much more special and intriguing
Obviously because you can't cook very well. When I cook food myself I always find it tastes better than when somebody else has cooked it.
i know what you mean..
i lose interest when i cook for myself
Because you dont have to do it!
Although I do enjoy my own cooking....its the *washing up* I hate!
Cos I can't cook to save my life!
when someone cook you a meal this means that they love you and care about you, so you feel this love and care that's why it taste better..
Because you don't know exactly whats in it?
what i want to know is why food always tastes nicer when someone else is EATING it, and they give you some... then when you have it yourself its not as good!
Because when you are doing the cooking you are routinely tasting as you season and checking for doneness so there isn't that surprise flavor that hits your palate when you take that first bite as opposed to being a guest who has had the aromas stimulating the appetite without any of the punch of flavor to satisfy it until it is served.
thats very true ,Even if someone makes you a sandwich you enjoy it more
because you can't cook as well as they can.
Because I am a bad cook and have to scrap burnt bits off etc before serving up a meal - I dont let the kids see it though!! Also they all like and dislike different things so my standard range of food at home is limited and when we go out it is nice to get something I would not cook at home.
I don't know, but ain't it the truth??
I don't find that so much - I'm with ilovebillkaulitz on the 'tastes better when it's someone else's and they give you some' (or you pinch some or most embarrassingly, you refuse it when they offer it on a date because they're the most boring man you've ever met and you dread giving them encouragement... but then you sneak it off their plate when they go to the loo and they come back and catch you! Tasted glorious, especially when the date finished early because of food poisoning!)
I think I enjoy food most when I've cooked it, I know everything that's gone into it, it's gone well (I HATE it when it's take twice as long to make etc), and then the person who's eating with me is enjoying it as much or more than me.
