What was in your lunchbox at school?!

Question: Just wondering for those from other countries what you used to have in your lunchbox to eat when you went to school?
I live in Australia and had a Japanese friend long ago who brought along a packed lunch, but she would never show me what she ate, as though she was embarrassed. I used to just have boring sliced meat/Vegemite sandwiches and a piece of fruit.
So I'm just curious to find out what kids around the world take to school, it would have to be alot more interesting than a Vegemite sandwich.

no such thing to specific or standardize what we bought in lunchbox a day..those days during my childhood i'm only brought white rice+ketchup+dry fried fish to school coz my mum she is a typical malay with 50cent token a day..nowadays i'm a lazy mother he he,just bought them fast food chilled since last nite n just let my maid to heat it ,from oven n transfer it to my boy lunch box...but he enjoyed chochlate cakes so much instead of rice as well....oh yah! do you know a NASI LEMAK?my boy like it so much as his breakfast or lunch or dinner..its a rice mix with coconut milk n boild together n eat with fried of boilded wid hot chilli n chicken curry...i will email u if u loved to try mine then..

i used to have huevos rancheritos, with frijoles, and two sandwiches, With a caprisun!!! good old times!!!

As an adult I bring in my lunch box following - couple of condoms, whisky, sandwich))))

ice-cold water,clubhouse sandwhich,sushi and kimchi

Usually a sandwich, or a lunchable and a juicy juice box.

i dont eat at school im to lazy to bring a lunch my mom doesnt make me one

im not at school. i just finished and work fulltime in an office. but my greek mother stil is use to packing me lunch. i still have the occasional sandwhich with apple and snack bar. lol i feel like a little girl everytime i eat it

I'm from Singapore. And i usually bring a ham and cheese sandwich or jus "bak chor mee" which is noodles with mince meat and chilli. Then again i don't really bring food with me because we have food everywhere and its open 24hours 7 days a week.... Never ever go hungry here! lol

lol i would think Chinese people would bring Rice.

Japanese people would bring Sushi

Good question! You can have a star for that...

In my lunch box at school [I'm from London] I used to have a sandwich or pasta, cheese string or babybell, crisps, penguin choc biscuit or carrot sticks and a juice...hardly interesting but it's nice to remember!

(I'm in the UK)

...think sandwiches was the norm when I was a kid Hhhhhmmmm, I recall both Peanut butter and Marmite being very popular - jam sandwiches were a poor substitute!

...somewhere along the line I decided (in the way only a child can) that I wasn't going to eat packed lunches EVER again, so I ate the awful school-cooked meals... but watching the dinnerladies poor the waste into the slop bucket put me off - so I'd only eat salads - until there was a horrible "bug in the salad" incident :(

I then switched to bringing in tins of soup and warming it up in the Home Ec room.. which was actually kinda fun as I'd have time to talk to my teacher (with no one else around) whilst heating up the soup... :)

...by the time I was a teenager however, all I needed was a couple of smokes and a chocolate bar!! :(

...oh happy days...

As an adult I would say the choices are fantastic, (OK yes that depends on where you are/what shops you have locally) and of course what your budget is! Even a "cheap and cheerful" lunch can cost £££ !!

But I like knowing that each day can be a little different...

happy eating!

:)

usally not much as the local bully used to "tax" me so i used to bring as little as poss.

I am in Australia and it has been a while for me.
When I was a day school (I say this because I went to boarding school for the last 5 years)
was the good old cheese and Vegemite sandwich, water, yogurt, juice or cordial, a piece of fruit and maybe a muffin or a packet of chips.
One school I went to we were able to get fish and chips once a week from the shop down the road.
Boarding school food was just terrible, however, I have looked at their website and now they get great meals.... bacon and eggs for breakfast, roast and steak for dinner.... when I was there we were lucky to get meals like that once every three months!!!

Have a good one!!

I never used a lunch box until I went out to work. At school we had free two-course dinners prepared in the school's kitchens. For elevenses we got given a bottle of milk and a straw.
