Why do people eat chili with peanut butter sandwiches?!
Answers: Recently, I heard that a lot of people choose to eat peanut butter sammies while partaking of chili. Why?
Here's the deal:
Some "chili" recipes call for the addition of peanut butter. It is used to thicken the sauce, with its thick texture.
The peanut butter (the peanut butter that's cooked and mixed in with the chili) also adds that after taste -- you know that flavor that you can't describe that's unique in chili; it bleans well with the paprika BTW).
Anyways, since some chili recipes have peanut butter already in them, perhaps that is why some people eat chili with peanut butter sandwiches (they compliment each other, for reasons as to why peanut butter is added to "some" chili recipes in the first place). Some of these people may have unconsciously found the two to go tegether, while others may just have heard of this whole thing and then purposely decided to give it a try and decided that they liked it.
Since you brought this up, you may saved a few lives. Why you ask?
Well, a lot of people today (specifically children) have food allergies -- peanut butter being among one of them. People with these conditions can die if they come into contact with the allergens. So your question lead to this reply, which may potentially raise some awareness.
People with food allergies may inadvertently ingest foods that contain allergens.
Example: A kid with a peanut butter allergy eats chili with peanut butter added to the sauce. The danger here is that not too may people know about peanut butter being used as a chili thickener/flavorer (just look at all the answers above -- not one mentions the connection between peanut butter and chili, how the two some how compliments one another.
My 2 cents..
because they like it
i've never heard that before. but grilled cheese sandwiches are really good w/ chili (or tomato soup)
Eww I dont know. That sounds awful!
because they are wicked and evil. they make the children cry with their dreadful practices.

I don't care for chili anyway, but that just makes it worse.
