Do you put your ketchup and mustard in the fridge?!

Question: they never do it in restaurants

Answers: they never do it in restaurants

Although mustard doesn't need to be refrigerated, ketchup does. They don't refrigerate it in restaurants, because they use it so quickly. Even then, ketchup will occasionally ferment and get bubbly and even explode. Unless you go through ketchup very quickly at home, it should be refrigerated.

Yes, I do.

It is used up faster in restaurants.

Nevere use the stuff.

ketchup goes in the cupboard

I surely do.

I do

I don't, even though the label says you should. There's so much vinegar in those condiments that they have natural anti-bacterial properties to begin with...although it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep them in the fridge since vinegar can evaporate over time as well...thereby reducing the effectiveness of the vinegar's antibacterial properties. So, if you don't use them often, the fridge would be the best place.

Of course.... i think it has to be... or else it will parish. maybe not cos of the vinegar....

either way... i keep it in the fridge.

Yes, to make it fresh. In restaurants, they use up their stuff real quick so there isn't a need to put it in the fridge or else it turns all lumpy.

yes i think it keeps the ketup cool .

Yes, I do. I keep the syrup in there, just not the peanut butter because it makes the bread tear if it is cold. They don't keep it cold in a restaurant because...gee, I don't know. That is kinda gross;)-!

Once I open it, Then it goes in the fridge.......Its just a habit.

Ketchup--yes mustard--no

Yes.

I do. but that's a good point!

yep, i do too... i like the consistency better that way...

After it is opened, so it won't go rancid or make you sick.

They go through it a lot quicker in the restaurants then we all do at home. Yes, I keep mine in the fridge after I have opened it.

yes i put both in the refidgerator and do not put honey the fridge b/c it crystalizes and get yucky.but most everything get refridgerated at my house.stay sweet and safe.

Yes I do, and yes they do, when they are not in use.

Yes I do

I keep mine in the refrigerator on the door shelves. (I thought that was what these shelves were for). After opening they have a long life in the refrigerator. Restaurants use these products up pretty quickly and since they have a high vinegar content the acid protects the product from bacterial contamination.

Yes. And please everybody, practice safe eating. Always use condiments

unopened spares in the pantry, but once opened always in the fridge

yea...i dont like the warm taste of ketchup on something thats already war/hot :)

I put Mustard in the fringe unless it says not to, which most of the time it does but even though it say to put Ketchup in the fridge i don't.
