ok sorry was lying it is a fruit it has seed in so its a fruit .
but one that can and is used quite often as a vegtable thus causing this confusion amongst some folk

Fruit

Biologically, it is a fruit because it has seeds.=D

It's got seeds, it's a fruit.

yup its a fruit

weird but it is a fruit

Fruit

its a fruit because only fruits have seeds and vegetables dont, and a tomato does have seeds

Believe or not a fruit

fruit

its a fruit because all fruits have seeds. thats why cucumber is a fruit too

fruit

Fruit :-)

Its a fruit

Some people say it's a fruit, but I think it's a vegetable.

its a fruit because of its seeds

Biologically speaking, which defines the matter by the part of the plant being consumed, it's a fruit. But culinarily speaking, which basically defines the matter by the sweetness and usage, it's a vegetable.

The problem is with the words not with the tomato.

it is a fruit but we have it as a vegetable.

tomatos are a type of berry= fruit

A tomato is a fruit.
Yes you can have a tomato smoothie or you could throw a tomato into your fruit salad, you just choose not to.
People use tomatoes more like vegetables because it goes better with vegetables.

And that fact that it has seeds has nothing to do with it. A cucumber has seeds, as does a bell peper or a hot pepper but they are not fruits.

O.k. It is a Vegetable on the vine and fruit when it's picked!!

And did you Know a banana is a Herb not a fruit!

It is a fruit

by law it is a vegetable look up crazy laws

The tomato is a fruit and legislated by government as a vegetable for import duty tax purposes. I do put tomatoes in fruit salad as they they are sweet and juicy when ripe from the vine, especially the small varieties such as cherry & grape, pretty colours too.
