Foods to eat/drink when you're sick?!
Answers: I have a stomach ache, a throat ache, and a head ache. I threw up twice and I was coughing in the night. What should I eat/drink that will not make me throw up? Please don't say anything involving alchohol, as I am only 15. Thanks! :) ?
MATURE 47 YR OLD MOM OF TWO HERE, I'VE BEEN AROUND THAT BLOCK MANY MANY TIMES TRUST ME!!!!
ABSOLUTELY NO DAIRY (eggs, cheese, milk, ice cream, yogurt etc.!) DO NOT DRINK DARK SUGARY SODAS like you have been told! IT ONLY MAKES THINGS WORSE, IT MIGHT TASTE GOOD TO YOU, BUT THE SUGAR WILL CONTRIBUTE TO DIARRHEA!!!
Clear liquids like chicken or beef broth, diet sprite or diet 7-up. Jello, Popsicles, GATORADE or powerade. take 2 vitamin c tabs daily, get some garlic tabs they fight bacteria and infection! You should take those two things all winter to boost your immune system and be less likely to get sick in the first place... so You can eat a few noodles in chicken noodle soup but nothing dense like oatmeal, cereal, rice, meat or anything spicy!!! Just keep it very very light for a couple days! Also get yourself a warm steam vaporizer not a cold humidifier it will get everything thing in you house wet!! curtains, walls, and rug!! get the hot vaporizer. It has the same affect as a hot shower, it helps open your sinuses up!!!! Helps the coughing, headaches and sore throat. If you don't have one right now, just go in the bath room steam it up real good by running a hot shower. Just sit in there for 30 min. a couple times a day. Those vaporizers are only about $15. and a good investment!!!!
try some bland foods like un-buttered toast, saltine crackers, whatever your stomach will allow, but you need to drink, try just drinking water to keep yourself from becoming dehydrated, or other clear drinks that will not make you sick anymore
Take either some 7-up or Gingerale in a glass and stir it till the fizz is gone. Drink that and it should subside the up chucking.....take a tylenol and rest. Don't eat anything until your stomach feels better.....
I 've used this remedy many times with my own children and it really works.
When my kids were sick, I always made them homemade chicken soup. If you have a can of chicken broth around, try heating that up with a bit of chopped onion and garlic. Sip it from a coffee mug. Also, mix a bit of dry flavored jello in a small glass of water and sip on that too. It's very important to stay hydrated during your illness. The trick is to just keep sipping. Hope you feel better soon!
It seems like you have the flu; you need to take something for it (medicine) - ask your mom .
Drink some ginger tea, that should stop the urge to throw up. Honey and lemon mixed together always help stop coughing and alleviate sore throat, try that if you're not allergic.
thoart-Soup
head ache-choclate
stomach-eat a cracker
and drink some sprite or 7up!!
hope I helped
but you might want to drink the sprite slowly so you don't throw up!! but you shouldn't throw it up though!!
Go go to doctor and get a suppository(its by prescription only) and wait bout 1 hour then eat something. My daughter has the same thing now and that's what I did for her.
Be sure to drink liquids....clear liquids are the best. Broth, jello, apple juice, cranberry juice, gatorade, teas, water.......(no dairy) to name a few. This is very important so you don't get dehyrated.
Once you feel better you can graduate to a BRAT diet: bananas, rice, applesauce, toast! This helps with the runs very well. Then proceed to bland diet , no fried, spicy, or foods with sauces for a few days until you feel really well. Good luck. :)
Breakfast
Orange juice or half a grapefruit. Both are great sources of vitamin C, which could shorten the duration of colds.
Whole-grain cereal or bread. Whole grains are rich in vitamins and minerals, including zinc and vitamin E, which can help keep your immune system healthy.
Black tea. Real tea leaves (not herbal) have substances that speed the action of cilia, the tiny hairlike cells lining your nasal pas-sages, helping them expel germs.
Mid-morning snack
Yogurt. It can help you maintain a healthy immune system, as long as it contains beneficial bacteria. One cup of yogurt with live active cultures or a glass of kefir a day provides all you need.
Lunch
Chicken soup. The Nebraska researchers used a traditional recipe they called "Grandma's Soup," which had veggies like onions, parsnips, and carrots, along with chicken. But most of the commercial varieties they tested reduced inflammation, too. For even more protection, add a clove or two of garlic.
Anise-seed cookie. Anise seeds, with their licorice-like flavor, have been found to help break up congestion.
Dinner
Salad of bitter greens. Watercress and arugula can make a salad special—and research shows they may also have antiviral effects. Bitter greens are especially helpful in relieving chest congestion, sniffles, and coughs.
Pasta with tomato sauce and plenty of garlic. Because the pungent bulb is one of the most potent disease-fighting foods around, it's worth having at least two servings a day. Raw garlic has the most benefits, but cooked garlic also packs a punch.
Ginger tea. It's different and refreshing—and, Duke says, "ginger is loaded with virus-fighting substances, including several that act directly against cold viruses." (One substance, gingerol, can suppress coughing.) Boil water; then steep a tablespoon of fresh shredded ginger for 2 or 3 minutes.
