How long does frozen ground beef stay safe to eat?!
Answers: i bought ground beef two weeks ago and has been on the freezer ever since. is it still safe to cook and serve? how do i know if it should be thrown away?
It is good to eat. I grew up eating the beef that we raised. A cow lasts a long time in the freezer. When it has been in the freezer for a long time (more then a couple of months) the fat in it can get rancid. This doesn't mean that it isn't safe to eat, just not as flavorful. If you want to make it taste better when it has started to go rancid then add salt to it when it cooks. Do that and it tastes fine.
If it was frozen when you bought it and never defrosted before you put it in your fridge it is fine. If it was fresh and went directly in the freezer without getting hot ie: in the car a long time, it is fine. If it defrosted and you refroze it, not good. If it smells even a little funny..throw it away.
Yes,
Properly wrapped frozen meat can last a few months. From a safety prospective, you could probably eat it a year later however, the freezer will ruin the flavor and texture of your food after a few months.
Its only been two weeks, Its fine!
I'll keep venison in the freezer and use it year round till the next hunting season comes around. As long as it still has its color, and no freezer burn, you're good.
WELL PACKAGED, well frozen meat is nearly timeless.
I buy mine in a 5lb log and separate into 3 chunks and freeze. I thaw in the microwave and make my Hamburger helper. I freeze my burger up to 3 months. So yes its still good unless you let it get freezer burned. I use Hefty gallon one zip freezer bags. Never had freezer burn.
I would cook and eat all the burger within two days.
