you can often find it in the refrigerator section in supermarkets with the dips and cheeses. Or there is a hummus style base you can buy that is tinned chickpea puree with the tahini added. All you need to do is add some garlic and lemon juice to taste. that is usually in the supermarket section that has ethnic food in it.

Some health food stores sell it. and middle eastern delis have it as well

but as another poster has said, it is extremely easy to make with either tinned chickpeas, or chickpeas that you have cooked yourself, add tahini, lemon juice, garlic and some of the chickpea water if the paste is too stiff

good luck

,uhmm hummus
well i usually make it=] im good at it
u can just call me and ill make it!
haha just kidding
uhmm target maybe or a grocery store near you

I'm pretty sure you can find it at any grocery store. Trader Joes sells them in the dips section.

It should be at any big grocery store. Most likely by the deli. Num!

Copps on Park St. in Madison,WI. Have a nice trip!

Any supermarket will carry it.

Its easy to make to:

Chickpeas (garbanzo beans)
olive oil
garlic
tahini
lemon juice
salt and pepper

Just grind everything up in a food processor

Lemon hummus would be very good. Add lemon zest and more lemon juice. Eat it cold.

a normal grocery store like stop and shop or shoprite. gourmets have them too

Whereever you'd buy your usual chip dip.

its at every store, just ask a more knowlegable person, its normally common in the deli section near cheese spreads and stuff , but i wuld try an organic place if they still dont know

It's usually found by the expensive cheeses by the deli. A typical grocery store brand is Athenos, it's going to be $3.79 for 6 ounces.

I suggest you go to Trader Joe's. Their hummus is the bomb, and it's cheap!! The Jalepeno & Cilantro Hummus at Trader Joe's is under $2.00 and it's the bomb. Their regular hummus is $3.89 for a pound tub of the stuff, and doesn't taste pasty like the Athenos stuff.

Or make your own - 1/2 cup tahini (Jewish aisle), 2 cans garbanzo beans, half a lemon, 5 cloves of garlic, and some olive oil, blend it up in your blender, then add 1/2 cup of yogurt.

My local grocery stores stock it in the deli or meat department - near the cheeses, dips, cold cuts.

Why not make your own - it's easy and you can control the taste.

1 teaspoon (1/3 palm full) ground cumin
1 teaspoon (1/3 palm full) ground coriander
1 clove garlic, crushed
Coarse salt
? lemon, juiced
Pita breads, grilled and cut into wedges for dipping

Combine beans, tahini, oil, pepper flakes, cumin, coriander, garlic, salt, and lemon juice in food processor bowl and grind into a smooth paste. Transfer to a small dip dish and surround spread with warm pita wedges. This recipe makes a great appetizer, or anytime snack.

Tidbit: this is a fantastic dish to take to a pot luck or block party -- it's always a hit!

I guess Trader Joes, Walmart, and if you have it Save-A-Lot though i would go with the other two, but most stores do sell it just most people don't know about it.

Cosco has it in the cheese dept.

Any supermarket will carry it. The ones I patronize do. It is stored usually where the fresh cheeses are i.e. boccancinni, ricotta even bruscetta mix. Unless you check with the person in charge of stocking the shelves a lot of the assistants don't know where things are if it's not exactly in their section.
