Does Tesco's have to employ so many mentaly deficient people?!

Question: i aren't trying to have a go at the mentally disabled but when i go round my local Tesco's it's like talking to zombies, you feel like saying 'hello...do you speak English?' - or is it just my local store?

Nope, its not just yours. I have several moans about Tesco staff.
1) The oh so slow method (Sorry ladies, it usually female and older) used by the till operator at the checkout, when you are in a hurry and the person in front has a months shopping.
2) The 'woop there', quick method, where the till operator (sorry guys, its usually male) throws all your bits and bobs down the conveyor at lightning speed, then sighs impatiently as you try to stop it all falling off the end.
3) Crashing and banging by the shelf filling staff. Is that really necessary? (I have actually complained about this one)
4) The aisle blocking thing, when you are trying to get through, the shelf stackers move their big baskets into the centre. You can't get past either side.
Hmph!

Probably just your local store... the people working at my local Tescos are okay!

Id have to say its just your local store, or maybe just your attitude. In my local tescos, everyone is helpful and pleasant.
By the by, I myself employ people with learning disabilities (mentally disabled, as you so succinctly call them) and only have good things to say about them. They work hard, are polite to everyone and unlike some I wont care to mention, seem to lack prejudice which is ultimately refreshing.

Do you really expect highly educated and articulate people to be working in Tescos for the amount of pay the staff receive. At least they aren't claiming benefit.

Sounds as if they have at least ONE mentally deficient customer.

All of Tesco's staff obviously have to take an intensive course in rudeness and incompetence before they are hired.

i know what you mean actually.

probley cause they work for pennies?

At least someone is giving people who have learning problems etc a chance in life. At Asda the greeter is disabled and he is so sweet and kind and so are the people working on the tills. I don't really see where the talking comes into the equation as all you do is unpack your groceries say good-morning or good-afternoon and thank-you, they are not there to keep you company. Very unkind of you, i think.:(

I think you should have a look in the mirror before judging others. What with spelling and grammar such as "mentaly" and "I aren't", I am sure that people with learning disabilities could easily put you in the shade.

no customer service anymore, surly staff look at you as though you are an inconvienience blocking the aisles with their pallets and telling you anything you ask for is unavailable instead of looking for it. i blame the managers i would sack staff on the spot for being rude to customers.

must be your local store The TESCO where i work has a few headcases , but lots of the customers are the walking dead and so rude when they do speak.

I have had this thought myself, but I think they are all employed by my local Macdonalds. They are sooooooo ignorant, if I say hello, they dont know how to ans, they just stare and say " can I take your order". I do have to check this cos 4 out of ten times it is wrong.

If you think Tesco's bad try Somerfield they are even worse.

Well after completing my degree last year I was told by Tesco I was no longer needed and have been on the dole since. So yeah, idiots prevail in that place!

It's all about the training, or lack of training, that they receive.

Marks and Spencer train their staff well and you can see it in the way that their staff deal with you.

In Tesco, it seems to rely on whether the staff were brought up with manners and social skills. If they were, they can be very helpful. If they were not, their manners can be severely lacking, rude and unhelpful, and I include managers in this. There is a big difference in the way different members of staff there behave.

In M & S, you get the same good service from every member of staff because they are all trained well.

I work for tesco and we do not have any mentaly deficient people working for us.

I think some tesco's have a programme where they employ the McDonalds rejects - lol

Probably just the area you live in.
In nice areas they get intelligent people.
They are very helpful in my area.

just try shopping at waitrose if you can
