Diet chocolate cake ... What the H*ll ......cake is not supposed to be diet~!?!

Question: the way that it is diet, is if they use calorie free sugar substitutes (like Splenda) and Egg Beaters in place of eggs to reduce calories, fat, and cholesterol.

Though I haven't had diet chocolate cake specifically (I don't think?) I have had other diet desserts and the reason people do have them is this.

Even when you're on a diet, you still get cravings for desserts and other foods that are not conducive to dieting.

Many people (both those on diets and those who aren') have their food vices, and favorite foods which aren't so healthy.

I mean, for example, one of my favorite food vices is McDonald's fries. But since I am on a diet and can't eat that (at least not more than once every several months) when I get cravings for french fries, I instead make a healthier, lower-fat and lower-calorie alternative at home. I cut up potatoes, sprinkle them with a little salt (and sometimes some herbs & spices too) and put them on a baking sheet which I've sprayed with PAM or other non-stick cooking spray, and I bake the potatoes until they are golden brown and crispy like fries but without the fat and calories. That way I can satisfy my craving and not feel like I'm being deprived just because I am dieting, and yet I don't have to consume all the fat, calories, and cholesterol of the McDonalds version so often.

Same theory applies to diet chocolate cake. When a person on a diet is craving chocolate or a dessert, they can have the diet version, and not have to feel so bad about indulging a little without going on a binge just because they feel deprived.

Also diet chocolate cake, and other diet versions of desserts and other "junk food" isn't just for overweight people on diets, but its also for kids and others with Type 1 diabetes, who are not overweight, or on diets for the traditional reasons, but yet, cannot consume sugar, and would like to have an alternative to deprivation, while their non-diabetic friends and family are enjoying their sugary treats.

Just my thoughts...................

I know, that takes all the fun and flavor out of it.

I'm always watching what I eat and working out, but if I want cake. I'm gonna have cake! No diet cake either.

I totally agree. If you're going to eat cake, the h*** with the diet stuff.

some people can't have sugar...or need to watch their sugar intake...or their fat intake...

you can eat cake any time you want I do but Eat in as a reward so starve for two days then reward yourself.

Thank you, someone who understands!!!

My husband is a diabetic sticking to a strict regime, so do I create DIET chocolate cake you bet I do. He suffers enough without giving up everything that tastes good. I'm willing to bake it and he is willing to call it good. Don't be so judgmental!
