What vegetable is this please? it looks like root ginger?!
Answers: i had a bag of it in my veggie box . its small brownisn and knobbly.
If it's not ginger I think it's likely to be Jerusalem artichoke, which is in season now.
Take a look at UKTV food, it has a picture, tips on how to prepare and recipes.

celery root or parsnips
Does it smell of ginger when you pierce it? It could be a Jerusalem Artichoke as they look very similar.
a photo would help.
ginger root
A Jerusalem artichoke or sweet potato perhaps??
You are correct - it is ginger root. If it were round and about the size of a beet, it would be a celery root, and if it looked like a white carrot, it would be a parsnip.
It sounds like either ginger or horseradish. Taste it and find out. Once you start grating it, if it makes you cry it is horseradish but if it just smells nice then it is ginger.
Could be Jerusalem Artichokes.
if it is brown and knobbly it definaty sounds like root Ginger type in root Ginger on the Internet and then see if the image compares with yours
It could be ginger, or possibly galangal which looks and tastes similar, and is used a lot in Thai cooking.
