plain flour is what you use to make Yorkshire pudding pastry and pancake batter as well as in sauce making.
sel raising flour has a raising agent in it baking powder and is used in making cakes sponges scones and any thing that requires baking powder.
strong flour is the heavy duty flour as this has a lot more gluten in it so you use this to make yeast dough as the gluten becomes elastic like and perfect for making all types of bread and yeast goods like doughnuts kuglehoops etc

self raising is for bread. plain flour is for pita bread and strong flour has a use, im sure

Self raising flour already has baking soda & baking powder in it and used mainly for baking cakes and pastry.

All purpose flour you can use for cakes, pastry, gravies, breads and the recipe you use will tell you whether or not to add baking soda and/or baking powder. You can also use it to make pasta.
