average calories based on the US FDA i believe is 2000 calories for average sized people and 2500-3000 for bigger/athletes, etc...

Sodium Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA)

The current recommendation is to consume less than 2,400 milligrams (mg) of sodium a day. This is about 1 teaspoon of table salt per day. It includes ALL salt and sodium consumed, including sodium used in cooking and at the table.
***note, dont forget almost everything has sodium.
i hate to sound cliche but i would say everything in moderation for the most part with exercise and you should be healthy.
i know one egg has like 80% of daily allowance of cholesterol, but they have a lot of good vitamins and protein as well.

i would think oatmeal, whole grains, lean meats, skim-1%-2% milk would be good, salads, fruits, vegetables.
